Robert Eyler Ph.D.
CEO, Marin Economic Forum
In addition to leading Marin Economic Forum, Robert Eyler is the Interim Dean of Extended and International Education at Sonoma State University. Robert earned a Ph.D. from the University of California, Davis in 1998, and a B.A. in Economics at CSU, Chico in 1992. Dr. Eyler also serves on Redwood Credit Union's board of directors.
Dr. Eyler is the author of two books and several academic articles concerning economic sanctions, the economics of the wine industry, and monetary economics and provides public policy and economic impact analyses for both private firms and public entities to help guide decision making at the local and state level. Dr. Eyler has been a visiting scholar at both the University of Bologna and Stanford University.
Peter Poutiatine
School Selection, Sr. Coordinator, Edutopia
Peter Poutiatine began teaching 25 years ago in the backcountry, and the early lessons he learned about experiential education, the expeditionary model, and real-world connectedness have guided his classroom pedagogy for nearly two decades. In 2003 he founded the Marin Academy Center for Teaching and Learning, which sought to reinvent school-based professional development to be timely, relevant, and in-house.
In 2012 he designed a new, progressive high school based on many ideas first espoused in his blog. His 2013 TEDx talk, entitled "The Need for Positive Change in Education," outlines his thoughts about the future of schooling. Currently he works for the improvement of education at-large as the Senior School Selection Coordinator at Edutopia, a part of the George Lucas Educational Foundation. He lives in San Anselmo, CA with his wife of 20 years and three kids.
